There was a critical need to determine whether internal software engineers were reaching their desired levels of productivity and efficiency, and whether their experience with internal development tools was empowering or hindering their work. Although NPV was initially requested as the measurement approach, a more tailored Developer Experience Assessment was recommended instead, using frameworks like ISO-9241-11 and Google HEART. By interviewing diverse users across the company and gathering specific measurements, the assessment established baseline metrics, identified key improvement areas, and guided the team toward more effective, targeted enhancements.
